Statement
of Need:
The interest in nutrition, and especially herbs and supplements
is the fastest growing area of Complementary and Integrative
medicine. Not only is it the fastest growing area, but
it is easily one of the most confusing and sometimes controversial
areas as well. Health care professionals should take a
proactive role, and public health policies should disseminate
evidence-based information regarding consumption of herbal
products. Through integrative medicine, the health care
professional can combine the best of modern medical science
in disease treatment and management while at the same
time taking advantage of advances in nutritional technologies
that can help support the body’s innate ability
to optimize wellness and improve quality of life. |

GlycoNutritionals
Series
Part 1: The Basics
of GlycoNutritionals
3
CE Hours,
2 Video DVDs and Syllabus
Faculty: Dr. John Rollins
Optimal Wellness involves the body’s innate ability
to maintain, repair, regulate and protect itself as well
as to build new cells by utilizing daily vital nutrients.
A comparatively recent, but significant development in
the field of Glycobiology has been the introduction of
glyconutrients as nutritional supplements for health support
and their potential to help improve quality of life. This
course reviews the basics of the science of glyconutrients
and their wide-ranging involvement in the manufacture,
structure and function of glycoconjugates necessary to
optimize wellness. Additional reviews of the science will
expand into the areas of prebiotic function, antioxidant
activity and other aspects of the broad spectrum potential
benefits glyconutrient supplements can play.

Part
2: Advanced GlycoNutrition in Optimum Wellness
4
CE Hours,
2 Video DVDs and Syllabus
Faculty: Dr. Daniel Fouts
Supporting normal physiological
processes is crucial regardless of whether one is striving
to maintain or regain wellness and optimal quality of
life. Understanding the principles of how glyconutrients
are used by the body to help support those processes is
a key component to utilizing more integrative approaches
to health. Whether we are looking at the immune system,
cognitive function or a myriad of other bodily functions,
glyconutrients are major nutritional players. Measuring
appropriate Biomarkers of Wellness can help us evaluate
an individual’s progress. |

Advances in Vitamin/Mineral Technology
5
CE hours,
3 Video DVDs and Syllabus
Faculty: Dr. Daniel Fouts
and Dr. Steven Nugent
“You are just making expensive urine” has
unfortunately been truer than we realized. However, that
has changed! This course not only covers the basics of
the various vitamins and minerals but also outlines the
important issues of solubility, absorption and bioavailability
of the THREE GENERATIONS of vitamin and mineral supplements
now available. With almost 5000 thousand nutritional companies
to choose from, an important added section to this course
will provide information on how to more readily discern
nutritional fact from aggressive and sometimes misleading
marketing practices when it comes to choosing a specific
vitamin and mineral supplement. |

Antioxidants: Promoting Optimal Wellness While
Resisting Premature Aging
4 CE Hours,
2 Video DVDs and Syllabus
Faculty: Dr. Daneil Fouts
Dr Lester Packer, author of “The Antioxidant Miracle”
states that “It is virtually impossible to get the
optimal amount of antioxidants through food alone.”
Yet, there is major controversy in the medical literature
over the benefits of antioxidant supplementation. This
module examines biologic oxidation and the fundamental
science of antioxidants, providing a basic understanding
of their roles in helping to maintain health and, importantly,
how to evaluate antioxidant supplement myth from fact. |
